He sees them jump a fence none like any other. It was as if they barely touched it, or were his eyes deceiving him? In the foreground several meters ahead of the boys is an abandoned docking station for boats and vessels along the Banai River.
By the time Felix is climbing the fence the two youth can be seen running into one of the abandoned buildings. Felix finally climbs the fence to the other side. He squints to see through the darkness. He notices that he has torn his trench coat on the fence. He is breathing heavily due to his age. At one time he thought of giving up the bounty practice and taking up something more befitting his endurance levels. He sees a shimmer of some metallic type coming from the torn metals that pockets the abandoned buildings. The shine disappears deep into the recesses of the building. Felix musters his strength and makes a dash across the ever revealing lot that leads to the building the boys disappeared into. While he is running he sees an opening torn into the side of the building, jumping through he puts his back to a column to not be spotted by any anyone that might be about. He sees someone run up a flight of stairs.
Felix swivels around the column and rolls to the next one. All of a sudden there is a guttural sound that breaks the silence. Felix freezes up as he knows the sound all too well and thinks about his brother Mislafi. He quickly turns to find a lion staring him down, his eyes aglow in the darkness.
Felix has anger in his eyes as he thinks this is the same lion that killed his brother. His fear that he had the day his brother was killed is now a hatred of this beast. The lion is many meters away and starts racing toward Felix. Felix throws back his trench coat and reveals his shotgun, grabbing for it. The lion is almost upon him when he takes aim. The thunderous sound of the shotgun blast echoes throughout the building. The lion knocks Felix to the floor catching his side with his large claws. Felix is holding his side struggling to get back to his feet. He notices that the lion has collected itself as well. However, Felix shells met a mark on the animal as blood is dripping down its leg.
