Just spent the past 3 1/2 hours reinstalling programs and finding data files for the computer I fucked up this morning. Am just a little annoyed with myself, would like to behead myself and feed the head to the sharks...but one must adopt a positive attitude, and I suppose it teaches me not to be FUCKING STUPID ! Not to change things I don't understand and lock myself out of my own computer...damn they're weird things ! In terms of PODs, this timeline could probably be said to have a couple, but then in real life events and shocking occurrences rarely actually depend the one upon the other to happen. This is something of the 'coin-toss' approach to alternate history - why should it be set up as one POD only and then some sort of intellectual challenge thereon ? I am not trying to write a thesis or create an argument for some historical purpose, I am trying to tell a different...

He turned away from the shoreline a second too soon. Had he waited, he would have seen the tiny flash that showed the submarine's periscope lens shining in the light of the suddenly-revealed moon. Instead, he nodded to himself, glad that the deluge of light had lit up the difficult path back along the cliff's edge; it was so much easier with the Moonlight.

OK, the purpose of this timeline is to get a joint Franco-German attack on Britain anywhere between 1900 and 1920, with a POD not before the Crimean War

Probably that war is the obvious place to start trying to play with this idea

If Austria's balancing act fails and Austria ends up in the war actively with Britain and France and Sardinia, then it probably tips it over the edge....

OK, this started as a dream of the night 3-4 October 2007

Set in the latter stages of an alternate history Second World War, this sees the Allied armies, by now led almost completely by the USA, deep into the Soviet Union defeating Nazi Germany's ally in the conflict

Does anyone know what the MAXIMUM page count is in these forums and whether things get deleted and drop off the end if it is reached ? AHF forum seems to have been stuck at 13 pages for a long time, and I was worrying that new posts might be deleting the oldest, so I removed 4 or so of my abortive stories and timelines and put them here. I had a weird Nazi succession war dream on Monday night and found a thread at AH.com it fits into perfectly today ! I was a field marshal in the dream, maybe some kind of Rommel figure I'm not sure, and it was 1956 or 1958 or both (you know how dreams go). There was a cabal to put Wolfram von Richtofen on the throne after Hitler's death - I think WvR was Head of the Luftwaffe by this time, and Hitler had either just died or died in 1956 and it was 2 years later after a triumvirate had ruled...
